チャイナタウン / Chinatown

ロンドンのチャイナタウンも横浜と同じくらい有名です。

横浜中華街はロンドンよりずっと大きいですが。

でもロンドンのほうがより中国っぽさを味わえるのではないでしょうか。

中国語が各所で飛び交い、英語を聞くチャンスが少ない気がします。

お店で働いている人も中国系の方ばかり見受けられ、ヨーロッパの人は私が見る限りゼロでした。

横浜中華街だったら、日本人の店員もたくさん居ますよね。

通りのサインにも中国語が書かれてるのはチャイナタウンだけ。

インド人街、イスラム街、フランス人の多い地域などロンドンに居ながらして、異国情緒を味わえるのがこの街に滞在して楽しい点の一つでもあります。

One of my favourite areas in London, Chinatown.

This area has so much energy and I feel I'm not in London, but in some city in China.

We have Chinatown in Yokohama, Japan, and it is bigger than the one in London. According to my Chinese friends who have been to several Chinatowns in the world, Yokohama is the largest and busiest.

Chinatown in Japan is more like an China-ish amusement park for Japanese tourists, in my opinion. Full of Japanese people, souvenir stores and extremely pricy posh restaurants ...etc.

However I felt London one is for local Chinese people to get Chinese groceries, medicines and quick / cheap restaurants. You can hear their language everywhere.

The greatest thing about staying in London is you can have exotic culture experience in one town.

You want to eat nice Indian food? Just go to Brick Lane.

You want to feel French atmosphere? How about South Kensington?
